National Voter Registration Day - September 22, 2020
Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown Plans to Register Voters to Celebrate National Voter Registration Day
On September 22, 2020, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive cross-country effort to register voters well in advance of Election Day this November. With a historic presidential election approaching, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her right to be heard at the ballot box, and National Voter Registration Day is the right day to start by getting registered. Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown is proud to once again be a National Voter Registration Day partner. On September 22, the Oakland County Clerk will register voters at a drive-thru voter registration event.
“I have enjoyed hosting National Voter Registration Day events for the past several years,” said Brown. “Each year I have done something different. Last year, I partnered with some of our local clerks and hosted voter registration at four OCC campuses. This year I wanted to offer residents a convenient way to register to vote while taking all necessary health and safety precautions, so I’m planning a drive-thru.”
The event will be held on Tuesday, 9/22/20, from 12PM - 1:30PM and 5PM - 6:30PM, at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac, in the parking lot of the Medical Examiner’s Facility (building 28E). Signs will be posted to direct traffic. This voter registration drive will allow registrants to pull up to the designated location and remain in their vehicle when filling out and returning their registration form. Registrants are asked to please wear a mask.
In order to register to vote you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be 18 years of age or older by election day (November 3, 2020).
- Be a resident of Michigan and of the city or township you’re registering in.
- Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison.
- Provide valid ID or acceptable proof of residency (ID address must match the address you list on your registration form).
