On Monday evening, February 1, Kim Dao Waldis, a co-owner of Da Nang Restaurant in Clawson, will speak about her experiences as a Vietnamese immigrant in Michigan. This program is offered in partnership with THE GREAT MICHIGAN READ, an initiative of the Michigan Humanities Council, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. This year's book selection is Stealing Buddha's Dinner by Bich Minh Nguygen, who left Vietnam in 1975 and grew up in Grand Rapids. Since ancient times, man has paid an almost mythical attention to glass, sttributing something magical and supernatural to the transparent medium. On Monday evening, March 1, a docent from the Detroit Institute of Arts will give a slide presentation about some of the amazing glass that is in the permanent collection of the DIA. We are all anxiously awaiting spring weather and the bounty of new, refreshing growth. Learn how to prepare your gardens for healthy, productive results. Good practices and preperation will be the focus of this presentation by Bette Walker, Certified Master Gardener Candidate, on Monday evening, April 5. The Friends of Blair Memorial Library meet at 6:15pm immediately preceding the Monday evening programs (October - June). This dedicated group of library boosters welcomes all members of the community to join them as they plan activities and fund-raisers to support the library.

Library patrons with a valid library card in good standing can check out a Museum Adventure Pass at Blair Memorial Library. The Museum Adventure Pass is issued for one participating museum and is valid for one week from the check-out date. The pass will handed in at the box office of the participating organization for free admission for two or four people. A limited number of passes are available each week, on a first-come, first-served basis.
