Title: Park Attendant (Part-time Seasonal)
Title: Camp Counselor (Part-time Seasonal)
Park Attendant Position
Performs monitoring duties of the city park facilities to protect and preserve city assets. Also included is watering areas throughout the city as needed on weekends.
Supervision Received: The Park Attendant works under the general supervision of the City of Clawson Recreation Director. The DPW Director and Chief of Police provide training and input as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
-Assists the public with general use of park facilities
-Reminds visitors of park rules and notifies authorities about violators as needed
-Assists in maintaining a standard of cleanliness in restrooms at City Park and Grant Park, which includes toilets, sinks, mopping of floors and wiping down walls as necessary.
-Empties garbage cans in and around the park area and puts waste in dumpster at City Park
-Reports any vandalism to the police and Director of Recreation
-Reports any unusual situation, accident or repair necessary to Director of Recreation
-Uses the Gator to water flowers and hanging baskets in DDA area, "Welcome to Clawson" signs on 14 Mile, 121 Renshaw, Fire Station, War Memorial and flagpole at DPW
-Notifies Recreation Director when supplies are needed
-Assists with maintaining recreational facilities in a clean and operational condition as needed
-Performs other duties as specified
High School graduate or GED equivilent
Valid driver's license
Pass background, physical and drug tests
An employee in this position spends time mostly outdoors and must frequently lift and/or move objects. Bending, stooping or carrying objects is also required.
Camp Counselor Position
Leading a group of 10 campers in daily activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and much more.
Counselors work directly under Camp Director, as well as the Recreation Director.
Essential Job Functions:
-Acting as a role model for campers
-Assisting campers in conflict resolution
-Being aware of camper special needs/allergies/etc
-Keeping campers safe at all times
-Working approximately 35 hours per week.
High School graduate or GED equivilent preferred
Counselors are required to play with participants, both inside and outside, each day. Field trip attendance is required and often outdoors and may include walking and / or swimming with campers.
